Pa Fish and Boat Commission??!!
August 25, 2000
What are they doing?
Last June I bought a Mainstream Tango.
A cheap sit-on-top 2 person kayak.
I tried to register it.
After many weeks of fun and games with the Pa Fish and Boat Commission
they rejected my registration and returned my title saying it was no good.
I was tired of fooling with them and told them I would not get a new title.
I told them that if the boat could not be registered to refund my money.
I made my final phone call 2 days ago and told them to just send me my money.
They said they would check into it and call me back.
Of course, as in previous attempts, no call back came.
Today I received a registration.
It says “manufacturer Aquaterra”.
I don’t know who they are. The Tango is by mainstream.
I was told in June that they had to keep the title on file.
They don’t have the title for this kayak since they rejected it
and sent it back, so all that fuss they want to put
everyone through is just a lot of meaningless bullshit.
All they really need is the money.
Following is my last email to which I got no response.

I need either the registration for my Tango or a refund of my fees. Last June I bought a new Tango Kayak. I brought the certificate that I got from Dunham sports directly to your office to register it. It was examined there and they told me I had to get someone at Dunham’s to sign it and send it back. I did this. I then received it back from the boat commission. The letter said it could not be registered because of an alteration. The was a letter in the number which had been drawn over, presumably at the factory, but there had been nothing said about this when I first brought it in. I called the boat commission nearly 2 weeks ago and asked for either the registration or a refund. The person I talked to said she would talk to a supervisor and get back to me. I have heard nothing. Please just refund my money. I promise never to try to register a boat in Pennsylvania again or renew the registrations on the two I do have registered. It is terrible the fuss one is forced to go through for a cheap plastic kayak.

Latest update:
I just got a call saying they have changed the rules. The certificate is
no longer needed for cheap kayaks. Interesting timing?
