I went on a guided trip from Shell rock landing to Bear Island(Hammocks Beach Sate Park).
This was a real nice trip and I got lots of pictures. We followed a marked canoe trail through the winding salt water creeks in the marsh. There was no wind and the temperature was just right. I went a little way into Bear Inlet, but not far enough to get in the ocean waves. I spent some time in the water off the sand bars. That felt real good with the sand in my toes and the gentle current going by. Need more saltwater kayaking.

I've been rollin' rollin' on the river. I paddled up the Juniata from Duncannon to Amity Hall. Lots of shallow places. I don't like fighting the shallow water and scraping the rocks. On the way back down I ran aground and had to get out and walk about 10 yards on slippery rocks. I really hate that. Otherwise it was a nice ride. When I got back to Duncannon I crossed the Susquehanna looking for a place to paddle up through the line of rocks there. I found none. It looks like you would have to get out and pull the boat at least 20 yards over the rocks. Not for me. I was out for a little over 3 hours.
Monday I put in at Amity Hall and went up the river for more than a mile. That is a real easy trip. Like Little Buffalo only more interesting.

I launched the "Ride" by the Millersburg Ferry at about 8:00 this morning. I headed up river against the current. That is the hard part and is a good idea to stop in the wake of islands to rest before heading for the next island. It started to rain at about 8:00. It was not supposed to rain until afternoon. I kept going anyway a couple miles up river until I got close to Liverpool and decided I had enough rain. I went back down to the campground where the ferry stops on the west shore and then crossed back to the east shore. I will have to do that trip on a nicer day sometime.

I have just returned from the Susquehanna River trip with Canoe Club of Greater Harrisburg.
We put just north of Liverpool and went down to New Buffalo.
We passed the Millersburg Ferry and then on to some small rapids by Gerty's Notch.
I have never gone through any rapids before and was a bit nervous about how to avoid problems.
I didn't have any problems, thanks to the help of the other club members.
I have a lot to learn before I can feel real confident on such a trip.
I hope some of my pictures turn out good.

I went to Little Buffalo late in the day to try out a different seating arrangement on my Tango.
It seemed to work pretty good. I have strapped a canoe set to a boat cushion. I guess I can now do the Tango. I would not want to try fighting much current since it is harder to paddle than the ride.

I went to Millersburg and paddled across the Susquehanna. I followed the Roaring Bull back to Millersburg. I then went down past the little dam and pulled the boat out. I next put in at Halifax and paddled about ¾ of the up to Gerty's Notch.

Today 5 members of the Canoe Club of Greater Harrisburg kayaked from Dauphin to West Fairview. Pat led the way. It was a beautiful day and there were no problems except Phil turned over while surfing just below the Rockville bride. It was shallow in places and I had to get out and walk about 10 feet once. I ran out of film below the Rockville bride.
After the trip was over Phil and I went up the Conodoguinet creek for about a mile. There we really had shallow water. We had to get out and walk several times on the way up. It is a good thing I got new river shoes. I could not have done that without them.
