Juniata River trip June 30, 2013

Juniata River "kayaking"

It was a beautiful day on the Blue Juniata! A bit muddy though. I paddled the Juniata River from Lewistown, Victory Park to Mexico today. The trip was was about 16 miles. That is the second longest trip I have ever been on. I got a picture of a Bald Eagle. The water level was about 5.2 feet at Newport. The paddle took about 5 hours. The water temperature was about 73 degrees. I had the river all to myself. The only other boats I saw were 4 or 5 boats with fishermen in them. I went to Buttonwood Campground and they shuttled me up to Lewistown. They are real nice and are the next best thing to finding someone to go with.
