The canoe club paddled from Howe Park to Ken's Beach today. The Juniata River was at 4.3 feet on the Newport gauge. It was a nice easy going trip and we spent at least 2 hours on the water. We arrived at Ken's Beach at about 1:00 PM.
I had my new Tarpon 100. We had one canoe turn over trying to surf the chute at Iroquois Falls.

Kayak trip down the Juniata, from Howes' Park ( near Midway) to this guys yard (Ken Shull) although down about 1/2 mile there is a boat PA State launch.
River gauge at Newport was 4.5, water seemed high enough to have a nice float and
there were 3 nice sports for rapids, drop offs and some fun surfing. This was a
club trip and about 24 people, 16 boats were along for the day. It seemed to me
that this float could have been longer and we could have picked a better spot for
lunch, but overall an enjoyable trip (Maybe a float to Duncannon would make a nice
trip, I will look at the maps)
I got to meet "the famous" Jim Crownover, the guy with the nice web sites that I
look at all the time, seems like a very nice guy and he gave me some free advice on
which end of the kayak goes down river first. I had a nice comfortable trip but I
think that I may want a bit smaller of a boat for some of these trips, I by far had
the longest Kayak.
